South Shields turned on the style as they hit neighbours Hebburn Town for six with a brilliant performance.
The Mariners won 6-0 at the Hebburn Sports and Social Ground to give another boost to their pre-season preparations.
They were 2-0 up at half-time, with a trialist putting them ahead before Jon Shaw headed in a superb David Foley cross to double the lead.
Seven changes were made by Shields at the break, and after that, they enjoyed total domination.
Just three minutes into the second half, it was 3-0, with substitute Ben Riding’s effort from outside the box diverted in by fellow replacement Stephen Ramsey, who scored the winner for the Mariners at Hebburn in the league last season.
Robert Briggs scored the goal of the game soon after following some superb play with Julio Arca on the edge of the box, with the pair bypassing their opponents with one-touch football before Briggs slotted the ball home.
Warren Byrne and Ramsey went close before goal number five was provided by Michael Turner, who burst into the box from the left before firing past home goalkeeper Steven Hubery, who had in the first half kept his former club at bay with a number of impressive saves.
With 18 minutes left, Riding made it six when Briggs curled in a fantastic free-kick from the left and he met it brilliantly at the back post, sending it across goal and into the top corner.
Byrne had a shot cleared off the line and Leepaul Scroggins hit one just wide as the Mariners looked to make the margin of victory even greater.
However, they eventually settled for six as they sealed their second win in three days, following the 1-0 success at Whitby Town on Saturday.
They are next in action on Friday, when they visit Northern League Division One rivals Seaham Red Star for a 7.30pm kick-off.
