Match Preview: South Shields vs Morpeth Town
South Shields and Morpeth Town will again go head-to-head in the Buildbase FA Vase on Wednesday following the abandonment of Saturday’s tie at Mariners Park.
The fourth round match could not be concluded on Saturday following the failure of the generator which provides power to the floodlights, causing the lights to go out with nine minutes remaining, when Morpeth led 4-2.
FA rules dictated that the game should be replayed at Mariners Park.
Shields will go into the match without captain Leepaul Scroggins, who is likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious leg break on Sunday.
Left-back Anthony Callaghan will also remain unavailable, as he is cup-tied, while Louis Storey is still continuing his recovery from a broken leg, and is thought to be about a fortnight away from a return.
It remains to be seen whether midfielder Andrew Stephenson will be available, after he was forced off in the first half of Saturday’s match with injury.
Julio Arca is set to be available, as the one-match ban he received for his red card on Saturday does not come into effect until January 21.
Kick-off at Mariners Park is at 7.30pm and we would truly appreciate your support.
Admission prices – to be paid at the turnstiles – are £6 for adults, £4 for students and over-65s, and £2 for under-16s. As this is a cup tie, season tickets, junior and corporate season passes are not valid.
The winners of the tie will face a trip to Team Solent in round five.
