Match Preview: South Shields vs Lancaster City, Evo-Stik Premier Division

South Shields are aiming to secure a fourth consecutive win and climb to the top of the Evo-Stik Premier Division when they take on Lancaster City on Tuesday.

Shields have found their form over the last fortnight and have a 100% win record at home so far this season.

Tuesday’s 7.45pm kick-off at Mariners Park sees them take on a Lancaster side which is yet to win this campaign and sits bottom of the table.

Manager Phil Brown resigned following their FA Cup loss to Trafford on Saturday, but Shields have been warned not to take their opponents lightly by joint manager Lee Picton following Saturday’s 5-1 win over Garforth Town in the Emirates FA Cup.

Picton said: “Some of the feedback we gave the players at the end of the game on Saturday was about how we keep our standards.

“We went 5-0 up in the second half and then got a bit sloppy for 15 minutes.

“It’s about keeping on top of our mental discipline and our organisation.

“We’re going to have to be right on top of our levels all over again against Lancaster.

“It might be a cliche, but there are definitely no easy games in this league.

“We found that out a couple of weeks ago at North Ferriby.

“We’ve got to produce the right levels in order to get the right result.”

Shields welcome back Carl Finnigan and Gary Brown from suspension on Tuesday, although Anthony Callaghan, Barrie Smith and Lee Mason remain out injured.

Admission prices for Tuesday’s game – which kicks off at 7.45pm – are £10 for adults, £8 for students and over-65s, and £3 for under-16s. Admission can be paid at the turnstiles.
