Jarrow Roofing are the visitors to Mariners Park on Tuesday as South Tyneside’s two Northern League Division One sides go head-to-head.
The 7.30pm kick-off will be a clash between two teams in good form, with South Shields unbeaten in their last 11 games in all competitions, while Roofing have won their last three.
The Roofers’ return to form has coincided with the appointment of Mark Collingwood as joint manager alongside club supremo Richie McLoughlin.
Shields joint manager Lee Picton is looking forward to locking horns with former team-mate Paul Chow at Mariners Park.
The pair were team-mates at Whitley Bay, and won the FA Vase together at Wembley in both 2009 and 2010.
Chow is still a regular goalscorer for Roofing.
Picton said: “There are a couple of lads there who I know personally, and I’m hoping Mr Chow has a quiet game.
“We’ve got to come out of the blocks well. I was a little bit disappointed with how we started on Saturday at Esh Winning, but hopefully we’ll hit the ground running on Tuesday and get the crowd behind us early doors.
“I think the grass is going to be a little bit shorter, so hopefully we can move the ball around a bit quicker and start to click into gear.”
Shields are hopeful that their injury situation is slowly starting to clear.
It remains to be seen whether Julio Arca and David Foley will be available for this fixture, while Craig Baxter is expected to return.
A fresh blow for the Mariners, though, is an ankle injury picked up by left-back Ewan Simpson which is expected to keep him out for about a fortnight.
Kick-off at Mariners Park is at 7.30pm, with admission prices – to be paid at the turnstiles – costing £6 for adults, £4 for students and over-65s and £2 for under-16s. We would really appreciate your support.
