Match Preview: South Shields vs Grantham Town, Evo-Stik Premier Division
South Shields will look to halt a run of two consecutive league defeats when they host Grantham Town on Saturday.
The Mariners have won all four of their home games so far this season, but defeats at Warrington Town and Buxton over the last week have seen them drop to fifth in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
Grantham are level on points with them heading into Saturday’s 3pm kick-off at Mariners Park.
It promises to be a great day at the ground, with the turnstiles to open at 12pm.
The TVs at Mariners Park will show a re-run of the 2017 FA Vase final between South Shields and Cleethorpes Town at 1pm.
After the match, meanwhile, a beer and gin fest will begin in the marquee, with eight guest beers available along with a wide variety of gins.
The Manchester United against Newcastle United match, which kicks off at 5.30pm, will be screened, and immediately after that singer JPAGE will perform in the marquee.
On the pitch, Saturday’s game is vitally important to Lee Picton and Graham Fenton’s Mariners as they aim to get back on track.
Fenton said: “The last couple of weeks or so have been difficult for us, but we’re looking for a really positive performance back on home soil on Saturday.
“We are coming up against a Grantham team which I am sure will pose us a number of questions and problems.
“However, we really want to show our true identity as a side again and put on a good performance.
“We have to make sure that our levels are up to the standards we know we can reach to try and ensure we win three points.”
Admission prices – to be paid at the turnstiles – are £10 for adults, £8 for students and over-65s, and £3 for under-16s.
Please come along and enjoy the day – and night!
