Match Preview: Jarrow Roofing vs South Shields
South Shields make the short trip across South Tyneside on Saturday as they take on Jarrow Roofing in an intriguing derby clash (3pm kick-off).
The Mariners have won their last 12 matches in all competitions, and are second in Northern League Division One, eight points behind leaders North Shields but with two games in hand.
Roofing, meanwhile, are 18th in the table and have lost both previous meetings with the Mariners so far this season, but have shown signs of improvement recently, with joint-managers Richie McLoughlin and Mark Collingwood having significantly added to their squad.
Saturday’s fixture at the Boldon CA Sports Ground (post code NE35 9AL) is sure to be hotly-contested as the South Tyneside outfits go head to head.

A WORD FROM BOTH CAMPS
Richie McLoughlin, Jarrow Roofing joint manager, speaking to the Roofers’ official website: “They’ve got a great team, but we’re starting to get our own team together now. I’m confident that we’ll give them a good game this weekend. Myself, the team and all the staff are really looking forward to the game. We want to take the game to South Shields, get at them, attack them and have a proper go.”
Graham Fenton, South Shields joint manager: “We know it’s going to be very, very tough. It’s never easy going there. Jarrow Roofing generally give you a physical game, and they’ve signed a few players recently as well, so we’re expecting a really tough test and I’m sure they’ll give us that. We’re hoping there will be a good turnout again, as normal. To get over 600 at Mariners Park on Tuesday was fantastic for a League Cup tie. We’re hoping to get similar numbers on Saturday.”
