Mariners face Shildon trip in League Cup semi-final
South Shields have been drawn away to Shildon in the semi-final of the League Cup.
The draw was made on Wednesday’s episode of Made in Tyne and Wear show Football Matters. No date for the fixture has yet been announced.
It will be the Mariners’ second visit to Dean Street so far this season, having triumphed 1-0 there in the league in October with a Gavin Cogdon goal (main picture).
It promises to be another difficult encounter for Shields against a side they are battling with near the top of Northern League Division One.
Shildon are under new management, with Bobby Moore having taken over last month following the resignation of Gary Forrest.
The Railwaymen reached this stage of the competition with a comfortable 3-0 win over Division Two outfit Stockton Town in the quarter-finals, while the Mariners battled to a 2-1 victory at Newcastle Benfield.
In the other semi-final, North Shields will travel to Marske United.
