Jordan Hunter suffers setback in injury recovery
Jordan Hunter will remain unavailable until the New Year after he suffered a setback in his recovery from a broken arm.
The right-back had been aiming to return to full-contact training and potential team selection this week, having undergone surgery on the injury in September.
However, a meeting with his consultant revealed that the injury has not healed as quickly as hoped.
South Shields manager Graham Fenton said: “Unfortunately Jordan has suffered a slight setback, and we have to let the healing process continue to take place.
“We don’t want to put him at risk of further complications by bringing him back too early, so we’re going on the consultant’s advice.
“We’re now looking at somewhere between mid-January and the start of February until Jordan is back available to play.
“Jordan is frustrated because he was looking forward to getting back on the pitch to help the team to more victories.
“What I can assure everyone is that he is working exceptionally hard behind the scenes to keep his fitness levels high, and we know because of his professionalism and hard work that whenever he is available for selection, he will be in a good place.”
