The club was saddened to learn of the death of lifelong supporter John Hardy this week. He was 75.
John was an extremely popular Mariners fan who followed the club home and away, and had seen many ups and downs during his decades of support.
He was a regular during many of the darker days in the club’s recent history, including the two years away from Mariners Park at Peterlee, while he also supported the club’s Bingo Lottery game and was a member of the Supporters’ Association.
John was noticeable at matches for his smart appearance and always wore a trilby hat, and he will be missed by all at the club.
His funeral will take place at 1pm on December 9 at South Shields crematorium.
Everyone at South Shields FC would like to pass on their condolences to John’s family and friends.
As a mark of respect, there will be a minute’s silence prior to Saturday’s game against Crook Town at Mariners Park.
