Josh Houghton’s strike four minutes into the second half condemned South Shields to a 1-0 defeat at Boldon CA in the Sam Bartram Memorial Cup on Saturday.

It was the Mariners’ second loss of pre-season, and they are next in action with a home game against North Shields on Wednesday.
