Hooper available for Witton clash
Graham Fenton has provided a selection update ahead of Saturday’s game at home to Witton Albion in the Pitching In Northern Premier League.
The Mariners go into the match looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Hyde United, when JJ Hooper was among the players ruled out.
Speaking ahead of the meeting with Witton, Fenton said: “We’re expecting to have JJ back available on Saturday after a slight groin injury and a bug kept him out last weekend.
“It has been a big disappointment not to be able to get JJ on the pitch very much since he came in, but when he has been able to train he has shown real quality, a desire for goals and leadership skills that we are going to need to rely on at times going forward.
“It’s a real positive to have him back.”
However, Fenton had less positive news on the injury front as he revealed Dillon Morse was not in contention to play on Saturday.
He added: “Dillon sustained a slight niggle in his calf muscle and it’s obviously really disappointing that we’re going to be without him.
“We’ll be monitoring him over the next week to see if he’ll be ready for the game at Whitby on December 27th.”
The Mariners are also without Jordan Hunter against Witton as he continues his recovery from a broken arm, while Darius Osei is set to serve the final game of his three-match suspension.
Kick-off at 1st Cloud Arena on Saturday is at 3pm and tickets are available by clicking here. Cash turnstiles will also be operating.
