FA rejects appeal against Carl Finnigan red card

FA rejects appeal against Carl Finnigan red card

Carl Finnigan will miss the next three games after the FA rejected South Shields’ appeal over the red card he received in the game at Trafford.

Finnigan was sent off deep into stoppage time in the EVO-STIK North opener last Saturday, after the referee ruled he had committed an act of violent conduct.

An appeal was submitted – along with what the club felt was strong video evidence – to the FA, but has subsequently been rejected, much to the club’s deep disappointment.

Finnigan will therefore miss the Emirates FA Cup tie against Bridlington Town tomorrow, as well as the EVO-STIK North home game against Bamber Bridge on Saturday, August 26, and trip to Scarborough Athletic on Monday, August 28.
