Date set for FA Youth Cup trip to Fulham
South Shields’ Under-18s will travel to Fulham in the third round of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday, December 11.
The tie will take place at Motspur Park (KT3 6PT), with a 7pm kick-off.
This is the furthest the young Mariners have reached in the Youth Cup, which is the most prestigious cup competition in English Under-18s football, beating their run to the second round last season.
They face a tough test against a Fulham side which is unbeaten so far this season and sits top of the Barclays Under-18s Premier League ahead of the likes of Chelsea, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
However, the prospect of a trip to such a renowned academy is a fine reward for Shields, whose academy was formed just two-and-a-half years ago.
Jon Shaw and Wess Brown’s side have performed admirably in the Youth Cup so far, seeing off Gateshead, Carlisle City, North Shields, Harrogate Town, Morecambe and Hartlepool United to reach round three.
Admission prices for the Fulham tie are £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
Disabled supporters should contact Charlotte Bellamy at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to kick-off. All admission will be pay on the gate at Motspur Park reception upon arrival.
