Danny Carson joins South Shields from Jarrow Roofing

South Shields FC is delighted to confirm the signing of Danny Carson from Jarrow Roofing.

Carson 3The 26-year-old, who is most adept as a centre-back but can also play in midfield, has also played for Darlington and Boldon CA in the past.

He has opted to make the move across South Tyneside after negotiations with Shields manager Jon King, and has expressed his excitement at the challenge ahead.

He said: “South Shields has always been a big club, and there are exciting times here now. The players are all more than good enough to do well in the First Division, never mind the Second.

“It was a tough one to leave Jarrow Roofing, as I had been there for a long time.

Carson 4“I had to weigh up my options, and I decided that this was my best one.

“Jon has given me a fantastic opportunity to come to a club with lots of ambition, and it’s a challenge I’m very excited about.”

Danny has been to watch Shields at Mariners Park this season, and was impressed with what he saw.

He added: “I’ve been impressed from afar with what has been going on at the club.

“I’ve been to a couple of games this season, and couldn’t not be impressed.

“It’s not just about the team and what they’re doing on the pitch. It’s everything around the club which seems to be on the up.

“The gates Shields have been getting have been amazing, and I’m really looking forward to playing at Mariners Park.”

Carson 2The club is hopeful Danny will be able to make his debut in Saturday’s Ebac Northern League Division Two match against Alnwick Town at Mariners Park.

Manager Jon King added: “Danny is a fantastic signing for us. I’ve tried to sign him at least twice in the past, the most recent of which was four or five years ago.

“It has always been difficult to persuade him to leave Jarrow Roofing, but I think the ambition of the club has swung it this time.

“What has been going on here, on and off the pitch, seems to have made his mind up.

Carson 5“He’s a proven player in the First Division and is still young, with his best years ahead of him.

“He’s from South Tyneside as well, so he’s another player who ticks all the boxes for us. I’ve always tried to get the best local talent in, and he’s certainly one of those.”
