Club signs deal with Puma as new kits are unveiled
The club is pleased to announce it has agreed a deal to wear Puma kit from the 2018-19 season.
The three-year agreement will initially see the first team and the academy team wearing the new playing kit and training wear, with the reserves, ladies team and junior teams phasing them in due to sponsorship commitments.
The new kit is a bespoke design and will have the new club crest embroidered onto the shirts. The replica kit will only be available through our online store or the club shop at the ground.
Included in the deal is a limited addition third shirt, which celebrates the 130th anniversary of the very first South Shields Football Club back in 1888.
For the first time, you will be able to purchase branded South Shields FC training wear as well as the replica home and away shorts and socks. We will continue to stock leisure wear, with some new lines to be added.
David Mitchell, the club’s Commercial Director, said: “We are delighted to sign a long-term deal with Puma in conjunction with Genesis Teamwear.
“The club is now in a key position to attract the major kit providers in sport.
“We hadn’t planned to change kit providers this season, but due to the success of the team on the pitch, we were approached by over a dozen different companies wanting us to wear their kit.
“We wanted to find a supplier who would design and manufacturer our own bespoke kit.
“With the addition of the training wear, shorts and socks, the range of merchandise that the fans will be able to buy has increased dramatically.”
Genesis Teamwear is a PUMA Group Company and has supplied technical kit and training wear to leading football clubs since 1995. Genesis Teamwear & PUMA are proud to partner a number of professional clubs, including Leicester City, Burnley and Huddersfield Town in the Premier League, right the way through the football pyramid.
Russell Thomas, the Head of Sales at Genesis Teamwear, said: “Everyone at Genesis Teamwear is delighted to be working with South Shields as the club’s supplier of PUMA technical kit and training wear during this fantastic period in the club’s history.
“We look forward to playing a small part in the exciting journey ahead.”
The kit will be available to pre-order from the end of April.
As the kit is bespoke, the stock has to be ordered and manufactured in advance, and stock is scheduled to arrive at the end of July.
The limited edition shirt, however, will be delivered and available to purchase in May, along with the range of training wear.
