Another win for Under-18s

South Shields Under-18s continued their excellent run of form on Saturday by beating local rivals Hebburn Town 2-0 at the Harton and Westoe Miners’ Welfare Ground.

The victory made it six wins in a row for the young Mariners, whose goalscorers were Bainbridge and Powell.

The win came in front of a decent crowd, with lots of new faces coming to watch the team in home games.

The Under-18s travel to Darlington RA on Saturday as they seek to maintain their fine run, and will face Willington away the following Saturday.

Following that, there will be a week’s break before the young Mariners entertain Stockton Town at home on Saturday, October 25.

Another young Shields side which enjoyed success last weekend was the Under-15s, who produced an excellent performance in the County Cup against Consett Under-16s at Mortimer CA.

After a 1-1 draw, Shields won 4-2 on penalties to book their place in the next round of the competition.
