Adam Sakr update
Saturday’s game between South Shields and Ryhope CW was abandoned after four minutes of play due to a serious injury sustained by Mariners midfielder Adam Sakr.
Sakr was involved in a collision with Ryhope goalkeeper Christopher Rookes, and received swift treatment from Shields physio Andy Morris and Ryhope’s Jo Ann Kaye.
Couldn’t be more appreciative for all the kind messages. Hope to be back playing soon

After a 90 minute wait for an ambulance – during which time the referee had decided to call the game off – Adam was taken to hospital for tests.
It was feared that the 21-year-old winger had suffered a dislocated shoulder, but that proved not to be the case.
His shoulder has been damaged, though, and he also had a tooth knocked out in the incident, while he was unconscious for about 20 seconds after the collision.
Following the abandonment, messages of support flooded in for Sakr, who joined Shields from Bishop Auckland in the summer and has had a bright start to his Mariners career.
After being released from hospital on Saturday night, Sakr tweeted: “Couldn’t be more appreciative for all the kind messages. Hope to be back playing soon.”
Everyone at South Shields FC would like to wish Adam an extremely speedy recovery, and also thanks all supporters for their patience at Saturday’s game, as well as both physios for their excellent treatment.
There was a crowd of 314 at the Ebac Northern League Division Two fixture. Below is a selection of tweets from Saturday.
