Adam Curry completes move to Hull City
South Shields defender Adam Curry has completed a move to Sky Bet Championship side Hull City.
The 18-year-old, who has made 12 appearances for Shields this season, leaves Mariners Park with the best wishes of everyone at the club.
Adam has signed a professional deal with the Tigers after a successful trial, and will immediately link-up with the Yorkshire club’s Under-21s side.
As part of the move, Hull have agreed to send their Under-21 squad to Mariners Park for a friendly ahead of next season.
Commenting on the switch, Adam said: “This is a massive opportunity for me and I’m delighted to be joining Hull.
“I’ve worked very hard to get an opportunity in professional football, so to have now got one is huge for me.
“Playing for Shields has helped me massively. I’ve been able to show that I can mix it in the men’s game and I’ve matured a lot over these few months.
“I’d like to thank the management, because they could have stuck me on the bench and just given me minutes here and there, but they didn’t.
“They gave me a chance to show what I could do and I’m really grateful for that. I’d like to thank everyone involved at the club, and I will miss it here.
“I can only wish the club all the best for the future, and I hope they progress as high as possible.”
Manager Jon King added: “It’s great news for Adam, and I’m pleased for him that it has been sorted out.
“It has been a bit of an uncertain time for him, as he has had a few trials and clubs haven’t been giving him a definitive answer.
“He has definitely got what it takes to make it professionally, and I think he can go as far as he wants.
“Some parts of his game will need working on, but he will get that with full-time training at Hull.
“I’d like to wish Adam all the best for the future.”
Good luck, Adam!
