South Shields are due to travel to Stokesley Sports Club on Saturday, and seats on a supporters’ coach to the fixture are now available.

The bus will depart Mariners Park at 1pm, and a seat on it costs £7 per person.

The payment must be made before the day, and can be done by calling into Mariners Park or calling 0191 454 7800. Payments can be made in cash or by card.

As ever with the current weather situation, the game – which kicks off at 3pm – will be subject to the weather, but all tickets for the bus would be eligible for any rearranged date if applicable.

South Shields Football Club would like to wish all of its supporters, sponsors, players and staff a very Merry Christmas.

The club thanks everyone wholeheartedly for their continued support, and also wishes you a happy and healthy 2016.

Mariners chairman Geoff Thompson said: “I would like to wish a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone, particularly our superb supporters. I’d like to thank everyone for their support and enthusiasm.

“Hopefully the club can make 2016 a successful year, and there will be no lack of effort to make that happen.

“We want to make the club something to be proud of, and it would be great for South Shields to be back on the map from a footballing perspective.

“We have to keep our feet on the ground, because these are still early days, but I’d like to thank everyone for their support and wish everyone all the best for the festive period.

“Hopefully I will see everyone at a game early in January.”

Manager Jon King added: “I’d like to say thanks to the fans, especially for the last few weeks.

“The amount of people who have given up their time to help on the pitch has been amazing. They are top, top supporters.

“I’d like to wish them all a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year.

“Thanks for the support this year; hopefully we are giving you a team to be proud of and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2016.”

Captain Leepaul Scroggins said: “The fans have been excellent for us so far this season, at home and away games.

“They’re giving up their time to come and watch us, which we’re very grateful for.

“Myself and the team would like to wish all of our fans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Hopefully we’ll see everyone at a game soon as we try to keep the winning run going.”

The club is next scheduled to be in action on January 2, with a trip to Stokesley Sports Club.

Enjoy your Christmas!

It is with great regret that the club can confirm the Boxing Day derby with Hebburn Town has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

All tickets are valid for the rearranged date, which will be communicated in due course.

The Boxing Day match was an occasion the club was greatly looking forward to, but unfortunately the adverse weather of the weekend, and rainfall since then, have left the surface saturated.

In line with a Northern League directive regarding the protocol of Boxing Day games, the club has made the decision to call the match off today.

The chances of the surface recovering in time for Saturday’s game were deemed extremely slim, and when the weather forecast of heavy rain between now and then was taken into account, the only decision left was to postpone the match.

The club also took the decision to make the announcement early to give supporters an opportunity to make alternative plans for Boxing Day.

Thanks to your phenomenal support, Mariners Park was once again set to break the attendance record for Northern League Division Two, with a crowd of around 2000 expected.

If you have a ticket, please keep hold of it so you can use it to gain entry to the rearranged fixture. Details of the new date will be released as soon as the Northern League allocates one.

The club apologises for the postponement, but hopes that supporters will understand the situation, and the ultimately impossible challenge it would have had to ensure the game went ahead. The Hebburn game remains one of great excitement for us and we look forward to your magnificent support at the rearranged fixture.

The bar at Mariners Park will be open on Boxing Day from 4pm until late for anyone who would like to come along. Guitarist and vocalist Tony Bengtsson will perform after that, while the match programme from the planned Boxing Day game will be available to buy.

The Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support to date and wish you a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
