SSFC Women travel to Bradford this Sunday in league fixture

South Shields Women prepare for one of their longest trips of the season this Sunday when they take on Bradford City AFC Women at Horsfall Stadium (2pm kick-off).

The Mariners head into the 100 mile trip in good spirits, having defeated Wallsend BC Women 2-1 last week thanks to Eve Gatens’ stoppage time winner.

Bradford, meanwhile, suffered a rough 6-0 defeat to promotion favourites Chester-le-Street Town Ladies and they will want to bounce back in front of a home crowd.

Shields took home a point last October when the two teams met at Horsfall Stadium, with Zoe Norton’s early goal being cancelled out with moments to spare by Kanisha Underdown.

Alex’s thoughts

Head coach Alex Miller is looking forward to what she believes will be a "big occasion."

"I think the lasses thrive off that," she said, when asked about how they would react to coming up against a 'big name' in Bradford at a big stadium.

"Everyone loves a big occasion in football, that's what you play for isn't it?

"Those big games and those big atmospheres as well, so they'll be all raring to go.

"It's a decent trip down there, so we're hoping that the trip itself won't take too much out of us."

Ebony’s thoughts

Ebony Longstaff spoke to us this week about how the team felt ahead of the game.

“It’s always a good game against Bradford.” she said.

“We’ve had a good start to the season, so we’re all hoping for a positive outcome.

“It’ll be our first long away game of the season and I think we are all looking forward to seeing what Bradford can bring to the game too.”

Information for supporters

Kick-off at Horsfall Stadium (BD6 2NG) is at 2pm this Sunday, October 6th.

Entry is £5 - it’s a long trip but if any Mariners can make the journey down, that would mean a lot!

There will be updates on the club’s social media channels before, during, and after the match.

A comprehensive smoking policy is essential for promoting a healthy environment in public spaces and workplaces. It sets clear guidelines regarding where smoking is permitted, emphasizing the importance of designated areas. As smoking rates decline, innovative products like Packman carts have emerged, offering convenient solutions for smokers. These carts facilitate responsible disposal of cigarette waste, helping to keep areas clean and safe. Implementing a robust smoking policy that incorporates modern solutions like Packman carts not only addresses health concerns but also enhances the overall experience for everyone in the vicinity.
